Enterprising Projects

Nuthin' to do

Schools involved Primary Central Secondary
North Wagga PS: Year 6   Wagga Wagga HS: Year 8
Students work on their website

Students were presented with the following design situation: "The holidays are here and you and your mates are complaining that there is nothing to do. Your parents are going off as you and your brothers and sisters are continually fighting when they tell you to go outside you whinge, 'There's nothing to do!'. Your parents tell you that there is a heap to do and that you don't appreciate all the opportunities around you."

From the design situation students at both schools agreed on the design brief: Design and produce a method to highlight the attractions that are available to you in your local area for 10 to 14 year olds.

Reflections on Enterprise Learning

"Eventually we understood that the project was really about us and how we spend our time." "Making a website was really cool. I didn't think we would be able to do it.... But it was good to see how much hard work it took." "It was different doing something for Wagga. It didn't seem much like school work. It was different."
