Building Bridges - Enterprise Learning in the Middle Years

Business/Community

Atelier noted that 'In its design, Building Bridges sought to create circumstances in which schools, as they developed and implemented individual projects, would explore opportunities to create partnerships with local business and with local community-based organisations. Some school-based projects included such partnerships. Typically, locally businesses and community organisations provided opportunities for students to engage in project activities away from school sites, or resources were provided that schools used in classrooms during the project'.

Further, Atelier noted that '...some schools reported success when they purposefully invested time in explaining the project and its purposes to employers and community-based organisations. Careful planning appears to have been a key success factor in relation to this domain of the project'.

'Building Bridges sought to create circumstances in which schools, as they developed and implemented individual projects, would explore opportunities to create partnerships with local business and with local community-based organisations'. Atelier found evidence of some '...best practice situations in primary and secondary schools', but found that this was a difficult area and one that requires further work in the future.
