Parents
Parents are vital partners in the enterprising learning of young people. Parents are invited to work with schools and community to consider practical ways that they can support the goal of all young people becoming enterprising and capable citizens who are well prepared to take charge of their future (Vision – NSW DET School to Work Program).
For schools, best practice considerations for working with parents as enterprise learning partners include:
- School leaders ensure that parents understand the purposes of enterprise education.
- A shared language of enterprise education enables parents to positively and actively support their children's enterprising learning.
- Parents contribute actively, personally and through their networks, to the authenticity of the learning environment.
- Parents have the opportunities and knowledge to contribute to the measurement of students' enterprising outcomes.
- Schools work with parents to plan and facilitate students' transition through and from school.
- Schools reinforce the value that parents attach to the characteristics of an enterprising person by actively engaging parents in the celebration of their children's successes.
