What is Enterprise Learning?

What is Enterprise Learning?

NSW DET position

Taken separately, enterprise capacities are developed to greater or lesser degrees in subjects across the curriculum. The important contribution of subjects across the curriculum to the development of enterprising young people as been recently recognised by the Board of Studies syllabus development process through the cross curriculum content of work, employment and enterprise.

However, an approach to enterprise learning based on isolated activities in subjects across the curriculum is not sufficient for students to appreciate the discipline of developing and realising their own enterprising initiatives. It does not provide students with the rewards that result from enterprising projects in which they engage and manage processes from project conception to project realisation. Isolated experiences do not provide students with opportunities to appreciate fully what it means to be an 'enterprising person'.

In NSW DET schools, enterprise learning is an approach through which students develop enterprise capacities by initiating, developing, managing and realising enterprising projects.
